The Local Take: Georgia Black Caucus Legislative Agenda, Heritage Dinner February 27

The Local Take talks with House Representative Camia Hopson from Albany, Georgia, about this year's legislative session and the Georgia Black Caucus Heritage Dinner. The dinner is taking place on February 27th at the Georgia World Congress Center. Representative Hopson also mentions that the caucus awards unsung heroes doing work in the community at the annual dinner.

The Georgia Black Legislative Caucus is the largest of all the states.  Their annual dinner also raises funds for programming including their internship program and the Youth Policy Center.

I ask Representative Hopson about this year's agenda and she speaks the top five legislative goals for the caucus:

  1. The Digital Divide
  2. Removing Barriers to Access Healthcare
  3. Access to Good Education
  4. Criminal Justice Reform
  5. Worforce Protection

Representative Hopson also shares that you can contact your representatives in multiple ways including social media or with a traditional letter.
