Strafe "Ponderance"

The song Set It Off, written and performed by Brooklyn, NY multi-instrumentalist/producer/DJ, Strafe, has been setting it off on dancefloors across the globe for many years and this year marks the 40th anniversary of this seminal dance classic. Sampled by many in the world of pop music, it has stood the test of time and is still enjoyed by an entirely new generation, with the song recently officially adopted by the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha as their 'stroll' song. We speak with Strafe in this exclusive in depth interview and talk about the roots of this song and the road it's taken him over the past four decades. He talks about his time spent playing Duke Ellington in his father's Jazz band, doing sound for the legendary spiritual jazz club/co-op The East and the technology that he utilized to create this timeless jam.
