Luther Vandross was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was a creative artist known for his live performances. This week I speak with William “Smooth” Wardlaw about a new production honoring the life and music of this revered artist. The show comes to the Marietta Theatre in the Square on June 3rd and 4th.
Wardlaw cautions us that this is not an impersonation or tribute. They recreate the “Luther” environment with wardrobe, musicians, and background singers. Entitled Luther Re-Lives Wardlaw explains that in the show he embodies the spirit of the artist.

I asked Warlaw when he realized he resembles Luther Vandross. He explains that the older he has gotten, the more he looks like Luther. I wondered how they chose the songs. Wardlaw and his producer Deginal Boykin trimmed the catalog, but during most shows, fans make requests, and they try to accommodate when possible. This is more than just a revue. The story provides insight into Luther’s life and times.

Luther Re-Lives will be at the Marietta New Theatre in the Square for more information onLuther Re-Lives.
