The Black Art in America Foundation champions the African American visual art community through access, art education, and community empowerment. Clark Atlanta University alum Faron Manuel was recently named Director of the organization. Their programming includes a community art garden, art-centered lesson plans for middle, high, and home school students, and an Artist-in-Residency program. August 11th - 12th, they will host a Fine Print Art Sale at their College Park location at 1802 Connally Drive.
I ask Manuel to tell us about the organization that he now leads. He speaks about the organization supporting the work of African American visual artists in the country. They have been in Atlanta for several years now.
Manuel speaks to the organization’s programming, which includes museum-quality exhibitions but also educational curriculums around the production and economics of art. He shares that the art world is a multi-billion dollar industry, even though the myth of the “starving artist” still exists.
The Black Art in America Foundation Fine Print Art sale is a chance to learn about the technical points of different types of prints and invest in artwork at a low-cost entry point.
Register to attend the BAIAF Fine Print Art Sale.
