The James M. Dixon Foundation for Alzheimer's Research and Support host its annual fundraising gala on August 18th in Atlanta

The James M. Dixon Foundation for Alzheimer's Research and Support a nonprofit organization that partners with Jazz 91.9 WCLK is hosting their annual fundraising gala The Purple Affair on Sunday, August 18th. They will also host a seminar for “Caregivers” on Saturday, August 17th Dr. Lori James joins us to discuss these upcoming events.

Dr. Lori James shares that the non-profit was originally started to support caregivers who are often overwhelmed caring for a family member. The Intentional Caregiver provides resources not only to support the caregiver but to also provide resources for self-care services. Dr. James explains that caregivers need to make sure that they do not burn out. They are hosting a seminar on August 17th specifically for caregivers.

On Sunday, August 18th “The Purple Affair” the annual fundraiser for the James M. Dixon Foundation will take place. This event honors those in our community who are working to end the debilitating disease. Dr. James goes on to explain the “research” component of their foundation. Often people in our community are not included in medical research and this is especially important in diseases that impact us negatively.

Dr. James shares a few highlights from this year’s event and invites all who are interested in learning and fellowshiping to join her and their team at The Purple Affair.
