Jazz on the Green returns to New Hope AME church on Saturday, September 28th New Hope AME is the oldest church in the Buckhead neighborhood and was founded 155 years ago to benefit the African-American workers in the community.
This annual music fundraiser is for the entire community with grandparents and children enjoying the music and food on the church lawn. There are chef-inspired food trucks, lemonade stands, and the famous New Hope BBQ available to purchase and enjoy. You only need to bring a chair or blanket. Donations are welcome. Jazz Pianist Tyrone Jackson and jazz violinist Derick Jones speak about their music and playing at Jazz on the Green.
Jackson speaks about his band and playing locally around Atlanta. He talks about the great talent in Atlanta and jazz sessions at various clubs around the city. He speaks about members of his band and the opportunity to be the headliner at Jazz on the Green.
Derick Jones known as the Bankhead Violinist also performs. Jones shares that he wants young people to know that there is other music. He speaks about joining the orchestral band because of a girl and working his way from second session to lead violinist.
