It’s that time of year again!! Time to Tee It Up For Women and their second annual Golfing and Networking event on Monday, September 30th in Suwannee at Bear’s Best Golf Course. This event focuses on women, but men are invited to join us. Golf the ultimate networking activity is just one part of this event. Entrepreneurs and corporate procurement officers have an opportunity to learn from each other. The workshops are intimate and inclusive. You get to informally pitch your business directly to the folks who need your services all the while learning from experts who have used procurement to grow their businesses.
I look forward to hosting this event again and some of the ladies of Jazz 91.9 WCLK will be on hand for the competition. Sabrina Jenkins founder of this event and a sports marketing guru is here to share more about this event.
Jenkins is excited about the second annual event and speaks about the power of forming alliances and partnerships with other entrepreneurs. She mentions that the sponsors from year one returned due to the success of the inaugural event.
I asked about the continuing growth in Black women launching businesses. She shares that 17% of new businesses are started by Black women compared with 10% being started by White women which is a big difference in numbers. Jenkins went to explain that Black women go “through a lot” to succeed in Corporate America and if you have an expertise you can parlay that into entrepreneurship.
Jenkins shares some of the success stories that came out of last year’s event, where some partnerships were formed in the workshops as well as on the golf course. She explains that women working with other women entrepreneurs is a great way to grow in the business to business sector. The event attracts a diverse representation of women business owners.
