Lifestyle Medicine is coming to Atlanta with a non-profit health concept from Community Whole Health. This new concept hopes to decrease health disparities and provide adults who are underserved in our community with quality health care.
Nurse Practitioner, Cashmere Miller launched this new concept and is kicking it off with health fair pop-ups. The next Community Whole Health event is taking place on Saturday, June 7th from 11AM - 3PM at the Stonecrest Library located at 3123 Klondike Road. The community is invited to attend and take advantage of the following -
- Health Screenings
- Education & Resources
- Self-Defense Class
- Nutrition Assessments
- Kids Activities
- Healthy Snacks
Miller shares these events are to inform the community about Community Whole Health which will open their new center on August 5th on the Emory Hillandale campus. Miller goes on to explain that CWH will provide essential healthcare to adults and unlike traditional clinics they will focus on Lifestyle Medicine. I asked Miller for a definition of Lifestyle Medicine and she mentioned that her model allows for time spent with clients to provide education and lifestyle changes for a better medical outcome. Additionally, they will host healthcare workshops addressing stress, diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.
Community Whole Health will encourage their patients to make small lifestyle changes that include exercise and diet that can make a big difference. Register to attend the Health Fair Pop-Up on Saturday, June 7th For more information on Community Whole Health.
