Mothers Divinely Connected is a nonprofit organization in our community for Mothers who have lost their children. Chaplain Tosha Anderson is the founder. The organization is dedicated to supporting mothers as they navigate the unthinkable loss of a child. They offer individual and group grief counseling. The organization will host an event in June in support of Father’s Day and Dads who have lost children.
I asked Anderson how she came to start the organization, and she shared that she lost a child and couldn’t figure out how to navigate her new reality. As she tried to figure out “who she was,” she looked around for a community or network and realized that she would have to create one.
Anderson explains that she tried to be “super mom,” but that grieving the loss of a child was a completely different experience, and she had no words to even ask for help. The organization will host an event on June 28, Fathers Grieve Too, recognizing that the experience is also a difficult challenge for men.
