The Clarkston Community Center Celebrates 100 Years of Service October 4th

The Clarkston Community Center
The Clarkson Community celebrates 100 Years of Community Service on Saturday, October 4th, with a gala fundraiser.

The Clarkston Community Center is proud to announce its centennial celebration, 100 Years of Community, Culture, and Connection marking a century of service. The special event will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the center, located at 3701 College Ave, Clarkston, GA 30021. The Clarkston Community Center has stood as a beacon of hope and strength, annually empowering over 60,000 individuals from more than 57 countries. Luay Samy, the Director of the Clarkston Community Center, speaks about this celebration.

I asked Samy about the special challenges they face with many community members speaking their native language and practicing their cultural traditions. He speaks about the services they provide, overcoming language barriers with community input.

The Clarkston Community Center was built in 1924 and served as a segregated high school. When integration was implemented, the school closed. The Clarkston Community Center was born in the space and has served the community for over thirty years. Working with the Atlanta History Center, it was determined that the building has been in service to the community for over 100 years.

After-school programs, Summer Camps, Senior health and wellness, all activities supported by the Clarkston Community Center. Samy reminds folks that you can travel to Clarkston and meet the world.
