Over the last 15 years, the BronzeLens Film Festival has promoted the work of independent filmmakers of color from Atlanta, the Southeast region, the nation, and the world. This weekend is the Super Star Weekend and the regular deadline for entry to the festival taking place in August. The late deadline for the filmmakers who may need a little more time is right around the corner on April 6th.
Founder Kathleen Bertrand joins us to talk about this weekend’s events.
She speaks about their Super Star Weekend having two parts. The festival deadlines and the celebration of men and women in front of and behind the camera. On March 7th, the BronzeLens Women Super Star Honors Reception, and on March 8th, the BronzeLens Sunday Brunch with Brothers. Both events will feature cast and crew members from the Beyond The Gates television series filmed in Atlanta.
I asked Bertrand about this year’s entries, and she shared that the festival uses the portal Film Freeway and that over the last few days, the number of entries has tripled, leading up to the first deadline.
The BronzeLens team will begin reviewing films, and the winners will be announced in July. The 2026 Bronzelens Festival dates are August 26th - 30th.
