The Ben Hill United Methodist Church Legal Ministry invites you to attend LAW DAY at BEN HILL on Saturday, May 2nd, for an informative discussion on “The Rule of Law and the American Dream.”
If you or someone you know is ready to deal with a criminal history that may be making life difficult, this event is for you. There will be information on expungements, pardon applications, elections, and voting rights. Attorney Clarence Johnson, Jr., joins us to speak about this event.
I asked Attorney Johnson about the Legal Ministry at Ben Hill United Methodist. He explained that the Legal Ministry was started to educate people of faith, and it was also an opportunity to reach people who might need resources but do not have a church home. While this community outreach focuses on those with criminal backgrounds, Johnson explains that the Legal Ministry has also hosted workshops on estate planning and wills.
He shared details about Law Day, including the partnership with the church’s Prison Ministry. Participants will include Fulton County Solicitor-General’s Office, Jacqueline Bunn, former GA Pardons and Parole Board Member, and Dawn Jones from The People’s Agenda.
The event starts at 9AM, and light refreshments will be served. To ensure they have enough, they are asking that folks register. For more information, go to the Ben Hill UMC website and hit the Events tab. Johnson assures folks that if the drop in, they will be welcomed.
