The KAPPA ALPHA ALPHA Chapter of OMEGA PSI PHI in DeKalb County is hosting its annual health fair on Saturday, August 22nd at Gresham Park, located at 3113 Gresham Road, from 9AM - 2PM.
As access to healthcare continues to erode, this event is offering comprehensive health screenings for liver, kidney, heart, cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, and more!! Maurice Mason joins us to provide a few details.
I asked Mason how their organization can bring these types of screenings to an annual health fair, and he shares that their organization partnered with CARE ACCESS for the screenings. He goes on to explain that he believes bringing healthcare to the people is going to be the future of healthcare in our country.
He speaks about health screenings that allow people to learn about health challenges often before they become critical. Mason speaks about the screenings for kidney and liver disease, another challenge faced disproportionately in our community.
In addition to the screenings, there will be exercise and yoga classes along with massage therapists. Mason speaks about those activities providing healthy outcomes when added to our regular schedules. He speaks about the need for more health education.
There will be memory and specialized senior care screenings, along with diabetes and high blood pressure.
To attend the event, you can register, or walk-ins are welcome. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by to take care of your health.
