The 35th Annual Atlanta AIDS Walk and Music Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 26th, features a 5K run and a concert at Piedmont Park. Participation and support from the event go to grassroots organizations in our community. Increasingly, HIV is a treatable condition, but it is still a health condition that impacts our community at higher rates. The SE Region as a whole and Metro-Atlanta specifically are experiencing epidemic-level disease transmission.
Imara Canady from the AIDS Health Foundation joins us to speak about the upcoming event and their ongoing work in our community to inform, educate and advocate for folks living with HIV.
There is still time to register for the 5K, join a team, or create one to participate in the walk. Canady shares that the Music Festival will kick off with singer Algebra, and the headliner, everyone’s girlfriend next door, Kelly Rowland, will perform.
