'If it ain’t broke don’t fix it' must be Paul Hardcastle's motto. Since breaking onto the scene in 1984 with Rain Forest this British composer hasn’t looked back. He’s been a staple on some chart whether in the U.S. or U.K. consistently. In 1986 his remake of Hiroshima’s One Wish got him a spot on the coveted Top of The Pops, the BBC’s weekly chart show. He has become a staple on the format which has evolved to what is called Smooth Jazz , a format rooted in Jazz but that blends the popular musical sounds of R&B. Wavelength, the single release from his 10th album Paul Hardcastle X (Trippin' 'N' Rhythm Records), is one of those songs that can best be described as easy listening with enough instrumentation that it falls squarely in the Smooth Jazz genre. If you are a Paul Hardcastle fan you’ll love it. If you’re just discovering him, you’ll want to hear more. One way to listen is to check out Morris In The Morning on Jazz 91.9 WCLK.
