As summer winds down, artists and music labels are gearing up to release a boatload of new music. It’s one reason this is one of the most competitive times to get music on the air. So as we say “you better come correct.” Well nothing says that more than putting two super talents together, which is what we get in Coastin’ from Boney James featuring Lalah Hathaway. It’s the first single off of his upcoming Concord Records release Detour. Coastin’ has Boney’s signature sound opening the track, and Lalah adds her special vocal phrasing. The texture of this song has the potential to dance between several formats for the open-minded radio programmer. Summer turns to Fall and Fall into Winter and this is the perfect track to help with transition of the seasons and the changing of the leaves. Coastin’ is more than a song title. It’s a mindset and one you’ll enjoy even more when you are coasting through your day listening to Rivablue on Midday Jazz 10a-2p on Jazz 91.9 WCLK.
