The Local Take: Medicare Open Enrollment Begins October 15th

Saturday morning on The Local Take on WCLK I spoke with Starr Slade from GeorgiaCares about Open Enrollment and what it means. The Open Enrollment period for Medicare begins on October 15th - December 7th. This is the time to make any adjustments to your insurance coverage base on changing health needs.

Ms. Slade explains the ABC's of Medicare including the "Advantage" and "Drug" options. She goes on to share information about supplemental plans, Medicare Advantage and Medi-Gap coverage.

GeorgiaCares is a local resource for residents that have any questions or concerns about signing up for new coverage. If you need an explanation of the supplemental plans or the ABC's they are there to help.

You should remember to apply for Medicare within the six months of your 65th birthday.  Three months before, the month of your birthday and the two months afterwards.  If you are still also working you should check your coverage with your HR team.

GeorgiaCares is also available to address your organization, church or community group if you have questions or concerns about Medicare.
