WCLK's The Local Take Talks Inaugural Black Family Tech Conference

This week on The Local Take I speak with Marie-Antoinette Tichler and Kendra Emeruem, about the Inaugural Black Family Tech Conference taking place on February, 16th at the Tucker Recreation Center.

I asked the ladies why they think we need a tech conference for Black families and how this conference will differ from others on technology.

They ladies explain that new technology is being created everyday, from IoT (Internet of Things) to AI (Artificial Intelligence) to Nano (small things) technology and that African-American need to be in the know about the major changes that tech will impose on society. I asked about Block Chain (Crypto Technology) and Smart Cities (Connected urban areas).

The ladies mention that African-Americans only make up 3% of employees in the tech industry. They want to challenge members of our community to create their own companies with innovation and creativity.

Marie-Antoinette and Kendra explain that everyone can benefit from attending this educational one-day conference specifically to introduce our communities to technology of the future.
