This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturday mornings at 8am), we're speaking with Chef Kevin Ashford about this year's upcoming Family Food Fest, the festival that celebrates fathers and food. The Food Fest has entertained fathers and families for over ten years. This year it will take place on Sunday, June 20th, between 3PM - 6PM with limited capacity. As always, there will be activities for children and a health pavilion with information and resources on remaining healthy.
Chef Ashford shares that there is still time for chefs to sign-up and participate.
This year's event will be a hybrid with entertainment available virtually, and the venue will be at half capacity.
I ask Chef Ashford if there will be battling NOLA chefs and BBQ masters? He speaks about caterers, chefs, and the plans to make this year's event entertaining and safe. He also shares that there will be healthy and vegan options. And there will also be desserts.
Chef Ashford also speaks about the pandemic and how those in the food services fared. From turning restaurants into food trucks and the pick-up and delivery services that provide safety. He speaks about the opening up of restaurants and the return to indoor dining.
