New Music: Sound of Red By René Marie
Virginia-born Songwriter and Jazz Vocalist, Rene Marie started her professional career relatively late in life, only beginning to record music after being discovered singing in Blues Alley in Washington, DC in 1999. She has since released a series of albums that include largely original music and compositions. She's also been up front in writing and singing about issues as diverse as sexual assault, racism and homelessness; and, a tendency for club owners not to like singers who write their own Jazz songs.
Marie's new release on Motema is called Sound of Red. You can hear cuts from Sound of Red on Jazz 91.9 WCLK throughout the day in particular during Serenade To The City, Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. For more about Rene Marie click here.
