The Branford Marsalis Quartet is back in a collaboration with Vocalist Kurt Elling on Upward Spiral on Okeh Records. This meeting of ensemble and vocal artist was recorded in New Orleans, and features American Songbook Classics, Jazz Standards and, other pieces from a variety of composers from Sonny Rollins to Marsalis and Elling themselves. Along with Elling, Saxophonist Marsalis is joined as always by Joey Calderazzo on keyboards, Eric Revis on bass and Justin Faulkner on drums. You can hear cuts from Upward Spiral at various times on Jazz 91.9 WCLK in particular during Serenade To The City, Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.
