Atlanta's own Groove Centric is in rotation on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK with their cut Get A Grip, from their self-released debut Crossing Bridges. Groove Centric is Mike Jones on saxophone, Keith Barnes on guitar, Joel Powell on bass, and Brien Andrews on drums.
They've played all around ATL and have performed with artists including Mandisa, Malcolm Jamal-Warner, Jennifer Holliday, Mike Phillips, Monica, Musiq Soulchild, Jimmy Heath, India Arie, Jeff Lorber, Oliver Lake, Mighty Blues Kings, Sonny Emory and Al Green among others. Get A Grip incorporates jazz saxophone riffs and straight up funk in a way that makes it a classic WCLK ear-worm.
