Brettina's song Simple Pleasures was released in late 2020 on her New Day EP(Seven49Group) and may have gotten lost amid the flood of other Jazz releases during the pandemic. The limitations on live performances led to many artists to spend more time in the studio. Well thank goodness for the “Lost and Found” Department. The vocal performance from Brettina is one you deserve to hear. This native of Nassau, Bahamas is a born singer and the daughter of Gospel Singer/Actress Leona Coakely Spring. She delivers a beautiful song which will make her mom and her influences Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn and Sade proud. The lyrics alone are so timely, as the world takes vaccines, longing to enjoy some of life’s simple pleasures. You can enjoy the Brettina’s Simple Pleasures as you spend your middays with Rivablue weekdays Mon-Fri 10a-2p on Atlanta’s Jazz Station 91. WCLK.
David C. Linton is Jazz 91.9 WCLK Program Director and host of Serenade To The City, heard Monday-Friday at 10pm.
