The JT Project is back on the scene ready to pick up where their “Tenth Anniversary” release left off. This mid-tempo track is properly called Laid Back. It’s the kind of song that reminds you of drive with the top down taking in the sights of nature. The JT Project is a collaboration consisting of Kansas City native Jacob Webb (keyboards/bass) and Philadelphia’s Todd Schefflin(saxophone). The two met at the prestigious William Paterson University (N.J.) in the music department back in 2007. It became musical magic that took them all the way to a performance at the Kennedy Center. They’ve been honored by ASCAP, receiving the Reach Out and Touch Award in honor of the late Nick Ashford of the legendary duo Ashford and Simpson. This is a song you want to hear as you drive home with Jamal Ahmad during the SOUL of Jazz weekday afternoons 2p-7pm on Atlanta’s Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK.
David C. Linton is Jazz 91.9 WCLK Program Director and host of Serenade To The City, heard Monday-Friday at 10pm.
