The Local Take: Help End Sexual Exploitation With Grants From NoVo Foundation

This week on The Local Take I speak with Pamela Shifman from the NoVoFoundation.  The NoVo Foundation is dedicated to building a more just and balanced world and focuses explicitly on girls and women. Their mission is to end violence against girls and women including shutting down the sexual exploitation and abuse of women.

Ms. Shifman shares how the organization came about and how their work has culminated in the opening of grants to community organizations dedicated to working with adolescent girls.  She explains the organization's mission is to close the "on ramps" to sexual exploitation and to create "exit ramps" making sure that women and girls don't fall back into the familiar trap of being abused.

The NoVo Foundation launched The Life Story: Moments of Change that shares the unseen realities of commercial sexual exploitation.  From that program NoVo is launching The Life Story Grants.

Shifman shares the types of organizations that will benefit from the grants.  The NoVo Foundation grants are focused across six systems:  Housing, Medical Needs, Law Enforcement, Trauma and Mental Health, Immigration and Systems Impacting Youth.
