The Local Take: Love For Valentine's Day With Jaqueline Holness, Author of Destination Wedding

This week on The Local Take I speak with Jaqueline Holness about her first novel Destination Wedding. After all February is the month for love. Ms. Holness speaks to how her novel came into being after hearing a news report saying that African American women were unlikely to get married. She had just experienced a break-up and the news report was disheartening.

As she continued to think about the news report, the idea for her novel began to take shape.  She shares that Atlanta is almost a character in the story.  She wanted people familiar with the city to recognize landmarks and for people not familiar with the city to get a sense of her hometown.

I had to ask Jaqueline how she came to receive an endorsement from Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell, she explains her bold move that resulted in a written endorsement from the relationship guru.

If you’re in a romance, successfully single or looking for love, Destination Wedding provides romance for the Valentine Holiday weekend.

Jacqueline J. Holness is a seasoned and sassy journalist with more than 20 years of professional experience. Currently a correspondent for Courthouse News Service, her articles have also appeared in UPSCALE, Christianity Today and Atlanta Tribune magazines as well The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Atlanta Business Chronicle newspapers. Additionally, she was a columnist for The Lookout magazine and a contributor to Urbanfaith.com.  Finally and faithfully, she blogs at her website afterthealtarcall.com. A proud Jamerican, Jacqueline reps metro Atlanta as her home where she lives with her handsome husband.
