The Local Take Talks Ending Mass Incarceration And The Pre-School To Prison Pipeline

This week on The Local Take, I speak with Pamela Perkins Carn from Ending Mass Incarceration Georgia Network (EMI-GA) coalition. EMI-GA is launching a TOOL KIT for use in fighting the Pre-School to Prison Pipeline. In the state of Georgia, this pipeline is too real. Our state has the highest number of people per capita under correctional control.  The pipeline starts with suspensions and expulsions in Pre-School and ends with Prison. I wanted to share information about EMI-GA and their Tool Kit for those interested in ending the Pre-School to Prison pipeline in our state and nation.

Carn explains that the EMI-GA network is a coalition made up of over 400 organizations and individuals. They meet monthly and share resources with community members and other non-profit organizations that include resources.

The EMI-GA Tool Kit will launch at their next meeting on Monday, April 26th, at 1PM.  You can click here to register.

Carn says this was the time to launch the Tool Kit because of their general campaign to change the Pre-School to Prison pipeline narrative.  She speaks to the need for individuals and organizations to take up this charge so that our children can live up to their full potential.

Pamela Perkins Carn explains that she is passionate about ensuring the children in our community be allowed to live up to their potential.
