Spivey Hall at Clayton State University presents an evening with The Hot Club of San Francisco and their "Meet Me In Paris" show featuring Isabelle Fontaine this Saturday March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Love songs and driving Gypsy jazz are a combination made famous by the legendary Hot Club de France, guitarist Django Reinhardt, and violinist Stephane Grappelli in the cultural crossroads of Paris between the wars. Honoring this tradition are the consummate musicians of The Hot Club of San Francisco, “one of the most cohesive and entertaining Gypsy swing bands in the United States,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Keep time with the strum of the rhythm guitars and let the magical guitar and fiddle solos take you on a ride down the Seine and through the heart of the city. French chanteuse Isabelle Fontaine’s sweet and sultry songs add beauty and authenticity in this musical tribute to “The City of Lights.”
The evening also features a pre-concert reception at 6:30 p.m.
