The May 22, 2022 scheduled performance of WAR and the Ohio Players at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. This concert has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 7 pm. Tickets that were purchased will be honored on the rescheduled date. Sorry for the inconveniences.
I was joined Tuesday by Lonnie Jordan, founding member of War. We took this photo a few years ago when I was a host on the Capital Jazz Cruise. Jordan and I talked about jazz, growing up in Compton, being the last band to jam with Jimi Hendrix, poisonous tequila and more. It was a soulful and warm conversation.
