The Local Take Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Stepp Stewart's A Soulful Christmas
This week The Local Take is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Stepp Stewart’s A Soulful Christmas. This moving, rollicking, holiday play is filled with music and wonder! It has quickly become a classic event to celebrate the season.
This year The Local Take Day at the Play will take place on December 12th at 3PM at the Marietta New Theatre In The Square. Join us! Tickets available here
The last time we spoke to Stepp Stewart everyone was hopeful that the Pandemic was over, things were just starting to open up. Not quite as we thought, but live performances are back. I ask Stewart to tell us what this year of uncertainty has been like for the performing arts community. He speaks about feeling hopeful.
The production is celebrating its 10th anniversary, I ask Stewart if this is what he hoped for at the beginning and what it has been like to mount this production every year during the holiday season. He speaks about the support from multiple communities. The show generally sells out and it has become a favorite for the cast as well. On December 4th he will host a thank you GALA to celebrate at The Porter Sandford Center for the Arts.
Stewart shares that they began rehearsals for the production on November 8th and that they have been going hard seven days a week. He speaks about returning artists including the Boykin Sisters, Avis LaShawn, Lamonte Williams, and a few more. Some cast members have been with the production every year for 10 years.
Stepp Stewart's A Soulful Christmas runs December 2-5 at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts and Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur Ga., and December 10-24 at the Marietta's New Theater In The Square, 11 Whitlock Ave NW, Marietta, GA 30064.

When I ask Stewart what’s next he mentions his new production for 2022 “One Night At the Disco.” The story of a dance competition with wonderful music from the disco era.
