Hosea Helps is an Atlanta Institution began by the famed civil rights leader Hosea Williams and is known for holiday help. Since the 1970s, Hosea Helps has fed the community annually for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more. Elisabeth Omilami has led the organization for decades now. She refers to their organization as “the little train that could.”
Their headquarters is located at 2545 Forest Hills Drive in Southwest Atlanta. Hosea Helps engages with community members regarding the need for food, rent, and other assistance.
Omilami shares that there are over 12,000 homeless children in Atlanta. She speaks about families who are living in their cars. During the summer months, it might be easier, but we know that as the seasons change, the need tends to grow.
Hosea Helps works with local and state government agencies, but the majority of their support comes from us! Donations of time and treasure keep the organization moving forward with its mission to serve.
For those looking to volunteer during the coming season, please reach out to Hosea Helps at their website, 4Hosea.org. You can sign up now to volunteer this holiday season.
