Niecy Nash

Congratulations goes out to Ava DuVernay‘s epic Netflix drama When They See Us. The film about the “Central Park Five” (now referred to as the Exonerated Five) received 16 Emmy nominations this week including two for her in the categories of “Outstanding Directing” and “Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series” along with co-writer Michael Starburry.

TNT

TNT has released an excited new visual for the upcoming season of CLAWS and we have a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together.  It features Niecy Nash and the girls getting all glammed up by Beyoncé’s personal stylist, Zerina Akers and some pretty lit images shot by renowned photographer Ruven Afanador.

TNT is ordering the pilot for its first late night talk show—Naked with Niecy Nash.

According to S&A, the CLAWS star will host the show and “provide her comedic take and dispense advice on issues involving love, sex, romance and relationships as she interacts with everyday people.”

July 11 is officially “Niecy Nash Day” in Los Angeles. The CLAWS actress received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week with much fanfare. She was joined by POSE creator Ryan Murphy and comedic icon Cedric the Entertainer, who both said some kind words about their friend. Also present were her CLAWS cast mates Harold Perrineau, Jenn Lyon and Judy Reyes.

Just in case you missed it, here is this week's editon of UPFRONT Inside Atlanta's Entertainment Industry.

It features my one-on-one interviews with the cast of TNTs Claws, World of Dance judge and Grammy-winning performer Ne-Yo, Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Emil Thomas, artistic director of Marietta's New Theatre in the Square. Thomas discusses his current production of August Wilson's Fences.

I also played some great music from Sade, Ne-Yo, Incognito and Kathleen Bertrand.
