CAU Alumna Nnegest Likké Talks About Her New Film "Everything But A Man"
This week on The Local Take I speak with Clark Atlanta University alumna Nnegest Likké, an award winning film director, screenwriter and producer.
I ask Nnegest about her start and her first movie. She speaks about doing work in "the laboratory" explaining that there is no easy way to build your expertise. She read every book that had been written about making movies. She talks about the screenplays she wrote that were bad, but she kept reading and writing until she thought she had something.
Nnegest shares her thoughts about going the independent film route. We discuss art for art's sake and she mentions that to gain film distribution you need to speak to universal themes and commercial viability.
I ask her about her new film "Everything But A Man" which will open in early 2018. She explains that it began with her own life, but after a little research she realized it was a more universal subject.
Her upcoming projects includes an opportunity with the "Oprah" of Nigeria and an explosive bio pic with a large studio.
