Saxophonist Mike Phillips has shared the stage performing with everyone from Michael Jackson to most recently “Uncle Charlie” Wilson  at the Cobb Energy Center.  Flava In Your Ear is from his new release Pulling Off The Covers (The Sono Recording Group) where he adds his Jazz touch to many songs including the Doobie Brothers' What A Fool Believes.  His take on the Craig Mack classic demonstrates how Jazz music intersects will all genres and features guests players including Stevie Wonder and Trombone Shorty.  Mike is among this era’s Jazz artists who are introducing a new generation to Jazz by covering music they love. It also gives Jazz artists an opportunity to get something that eludes many: radio airplay. You can hear Flava In Ya Ear and other Mike Phillips cuts on Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK, particularly during Serenade To The City, Monday-Friday nights at 10pm.

David C. Linton is Jazz 91.9 WCLK Program Director and host of Serenade To The City.
