
David C. Linton
Program DirectorDavid C Linton is WCLK's Program Director. Since assuming the position in 2018, he's led Jazz 91.9 WCLK to record-setting ratings and expanded its listening audience. Linton's expertise in both NPR & commercial radio has benefited WCLK. He views WCLK as more than an Atlanta institution but a global media outlet for Jazz. He's enhanced the stations weekend line up by developing Saturdays with Ragan Whiteside and adding producer Bob Baldwin's Nu Urban Jazz Lounge to the Saturday afternoon line up. He reshuffled the Sunday Jazz offerings to provide a unique Mainstream Jazz listening experience on Sundays including the addition of Mainstream and Modern hosted by Rob Maynard. He also added Broadcast Hall of Famer Rick Joyner to the weekday line up as host of Serenade to the The City. He also programs WCLK's HD2 channel which offers Mainstream Jazz 24/7, available at wclk.com
As a visionary Linton started and served as General Manager at WRVS/Elizabeth City State University and programmed Shaw University's WSHA to record setting ratings. Linton enjoyed a highly successful career as a senior level music executive at such famed companies as Warner Bros, Island, Arista and Capitol Records where he served as Sr. Vice President Promotions/Marketing. He has worked with such diverse artists as Qunicy Jones, Fourplay, Joe Sample, Ray Charles, Rachelle Ferrell, and Prince. Linton is no stranger to Atlanta as he played a key role in the careers of Toni Braxton, Usher, Outkast, and TLC— all signed to Atlanta's iconic LaFace Records. He has received numerous awards for his work in the industry. He's also been featured in national publications for his work in both radio and music. In 2021 he was named "Trailblazer of the Year" at the Music Business Empowerment Conference and awarded The Presidential Bronze Medal by President Biden for his Public Service work. Linton has a M.A. in Educational Media from North Carolina Central University
