Listeners to Atlanta's Jazz Station 91.9 WCLK already know Nick Colionne, as we've been playing his records since the 1990s. This Chicago artist cites as his influences a holy trinity of Wes Montgomery, George Benson, and Grover Washington, Jr.. Live music fans know Colionne from his electric on stage performances, first backing artists like The Staple Singers, Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions, and then touring with his own bands or other contemporary artists. His most recent release on Trippin' N' Rhythm Records is called Just Being Me. You can hear his version of the Holland-Dozier-Holland written, Marvin Gaye classic How Sweet It Is(To Be Loved By You) on Jazz 91.9 WCLK. You will likely hear from Nick himself the next time he is in Atlanta, as he often stops by to talk with us, the station that played his music then, and still plays it today.
