Join us for Mainstream and Modern on Sunday night on WCLK. At 9pm we will feature a special broadcast of The Jazz Legacy Project's March 5 performance of The Music of Dave Brubeck, recorded live at the Historic Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre. This show is part of the Jazz At The Strand Series presented by The Manely Firm PC. For this performance Justin Varnes' quartet mimics the original Dave Brubeck Quartet, this time featuring Noel Freidline on piano, John Sandfort on saxophone, Kevin Smith on bass and Varnes on drums. The group takes you through Brubeck's music, while between songs Varnes talks about Brubeck's career, influence, and social activism. There's even a surprise song at the beginning of the show. If you enjoy the broadcast and want to check out Jazz At The Strand, their next performance features The Music of Ella Fitzgerald on Sunday afternoon, May 14 at 4pm, with Maria Howell singing.
