Give Peace a Dance is a 1970s-themed party to support the ArtsXchange Cultural Center in East Point, GA. The party will feature dance, art, and more.

The ArtsXchange is one of the legacy institutions that make our community special. It began in 1983 as an inner-city artist community that is multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary, and inter-generational. Over the years, the community has followed this organization from Grant Park to its relatively new location in East Point. Today we're speaking with the executive director Alice Lovelace about their event GIVE PEACE A DANCE taking place this evening at 7pm.

I ask Lovelace about the event's name, GIVE PEACE A DANCE. She speaks about the 1970's Peace Party theme. There will be a Studio 54 Lounge, Suite Soul Lounge, Joe's Jazz Joint, and dance productions in the Revolution Theatre. A vintage photography exhibition showcases the artist Oscar Harris with images around the theme of Jazz and Spirituality.

I ask Lovelace to speak about the year-round programming at the ArtsXchange cultural center. She talks about the artist incubator program. She also shares information about the Scrabble Club, an intergenerational event with novice and expert players showing word skills. There is also a writing workshop for budding authors looking to write memoirs or the Great American Novel.

The ArtsXchange is located at 2148 Newnan St, East Point, GA 30344, USA Give Peace a Dance is taking place tonight from 7pm - 12midnight. For more information, go to their website at www.artsxchange.org.
