Feed Me, Seymour! If those words mean anything to you at all, you want to head to The New Marietta Theatre in the Square for their final production of 2022, The Little Shop of Horrors.

This is the story of a meek shopkeeper named Seymour who is in love with his co-worker Audrey. He discovers this unique plant after a natural event, and he names her Audrey II. Audrey II attracts quite a bit of attention to the shop, but she has a bad habit that Seymour must feed, so to speak. The Local Take Day at the Play will be Sunday, October 16th at 2PM.

Emil Thomas, manager of the New Marietta Theatre in the Square, joins us to share his love of the theatre.

I ask Thomas about his decision to close the 2022 Season with Little Shop of Horrors, and he speaks about packing a big musical into an intimate space. He also speaks about modernizing the play and the set. Thomas also shares that the cast is majority Black and he called on veteran actors from the Atlanta musical theatre.

The Little Shop of Horrors runs October 14th - 31st.

While that play ends the theatre’s official season, on November 25th, their holiday production The Gift of the Magi, set in 1950’s Atlanta, takes place. Their holiday season closes with a Radio Christmas Holiday Musical showing December 16th - 24th.
