One bill in this year’s Legislative Session that State Representative Kim Schofield sponsors is House Bill 861. This bill, a Menstrual Products Disclosure Law, requires manufacturers of feminine hygiene products to label their packaging with a list of the ingredients in order of predominance. Believe it or not, these products are intimately used by every woman you know between the ages of 12 – 60, and we don’t know what they contain. State Representative Kim Schofield joins us to speak specifically about HB 861.

Schofield explains that she hopes to raise awareness of a product that women must use as the primary consumer; women deserve to know what’s in the product. She speaks about working with manufacturers and the law recently passed in New York State.

I asked Schofield how we could assist her in getting HB861 passed in this legislative session. She mentions that our voices carry lots of weight. She encourages listeners to provide her with their contact information and will keep them informed of the bill’s process. Her office number is 404-656-0298.
