Motown Motor City Revue is a fast-paced trip through the radio airwaves of the past. Stepp Stewart brings an amazing cast of performers who will keep your heart racing as you listen to the music of The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and more. Classics from Motown come to life on the stage of the Marietta Theatre in the Square from April 5th to 14th.
During our conversation, Stewart and I discussed the talent in this new production. He spoke about Atlanta's rise as the new Hollywood. One of the shining stars of this production is Eric Williams, a young actor who not only portrays Michael Jackson but is also being considered for the Michael Jackson production on Broadway. This talented individual, a product of Stewart’s summer Camp Spotlight, is a testament to the power of the stage to transform.
For many people, Motown music provides the soundtrack of their lives. I asked if Stewart chose the music based on his artist or if he chose the artist based on the music. He explained that he chose the music based on the audience.
Stewart creates engaging productions, and I asked him what he recommends for folks with similar dreams. He recommends doing your homework, researching what’s out there, and checking venues. Do you have a cast or team? Then go for it!
I ask Stewart what is next for him, and he mentions that he is currently touring with the Debbie Gibson show and will be back with the tour when the Motown Motor City Revue wraps up.
The Motown Motor City Revue is at the Marietta Theatre in the Square now through April 14th. Shows are on Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 3PM and 8PM, and Sundays at 3PM.
