The Local Take - COVID-19 Pandemic Stories: Randall Vaughn's Barbershop

This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturday mornings at 8am) we're talking to community members to collect their stories about life during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This morning my conversation with Randall Vaughn, owner of Classic Intown Barbershop which took place the week after the State of Georgia opened barber and beauty shops on April 24th.

Randall Vaughn is a graduate of Morehouse College and after a stint in corporate America, he joined forces with his sister to open Classic Intown Barbershop in 1992.  I asked him to share his thoughts about the COVID-19 Pandemic and how his business has been impacted.

He shared that he wasn't opening yet, even though his shop, a 5-star Google business, is set up to give individual attention in single private booths. He speaks about his business success via word of mouth with international pilots. Vaughn also mentions that being an entrepreneur you have to be prepared to weather the ups and downs.

I ask what he thinks it will take to provide personal services. He speaks to the rules in place for the personal care industry and that they will expand on those.

At this time Classic Intown Barbershop is planning to open on Wednesday, May 13th.
