Saturday morning at eight on WCLK's The Local Take I speak with WCLK's own Rodney Evans, Gospel music host of Jazz 91.9 WCLK for 35 years Joy in the Morning. His annual Give A Toy Give A Smile holiday initiative started some years ago when he served on a Citizens Panel of Review in the Fulton County Juvenile Court specifically dealing with children in foster care. A young girl was hesitant to speak with his panel. There was a toy in the room, he used the toy to increase engagement.
The idea of providing holiday toys to children in the foster care system was born. Most years Rodney partners with churches and corporations who host events to collect toys and gifts. This year due to the Pandemic they will provide foster care families with Gift Cards for $150.00 allowing them to purchase what the family needs. They can buy toys, food or other items in support of their family and holiday.
