This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturdays 8am), we continue our profiles of outstanding women in our community. In February of 2019, I spent the weekend with other African-American women through Digital Undivided. I met so many beautiful, entrepreneurial Black women. All were breaking into the technical arena. One of those women was Shaun Chavis who launched LVNGBook.
LVNGBook is a customized cookbook with recipes that support your health with culturally sensitive recipes.
I ask Chavis how she came to focus on food from a health perspective. She speaks to healthcare professionals prescribing healthy diets to their patients. Often this diet is not culturally sensitive and tends to be tasteless and boring. This makes it difficult to follow and puts your health in jeopardy.
Chavis spoke about chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension that can all improve with the proper diet. You can visit LVNGBook, put in your health challenges and favorite foods and almost instantly a health cookbook is prepared for your use.
