Saturday Night S.O.U.L. of Jazz Features Music Of Chick Corea

John Watson

The great jazz pianist, Armando Anthony "Chick" Correa, has passed on at 79. For those who may not understand the magnitude of this loss, this man is one of the cornerstone figures in modern music. Coming out of the late 60s "School Of Miles Davis," he would help guide the future of music for the next 50 years. His band, Return To Forever, was one of the most influential bands in music. Everyone from Prince to Phil Collins, from Thundercat to Robert Glasper, utilized the inspiration from him and his band to fuel their dreams. He could effortlessly move from a grand piano to a Moog synthesizer--between the worlds of acoustic jazz and electric fusion. His playing was not of this world and his writing, not of this galaxy. Join me this Saturday from 6-9 pm EST on The S.O.U.L Of Jazz for a 3 hour excursion into the music of Chick Correa. We'll traverse the "Seventh Galaxy" and explore the musical worlds of this modern legend in jazz.
