Oh this one really hurts. Rest in peace to my good brother, keyboardist/producer Shaun Martin. A true modern legend who has played with the likes of Erykah Badu and Kirk Franklin's God's Property, I met him in 2008 playing with the band Snarky Puppy and we became instant friends. His synth playing was on such another level that I've yet to see anyone from our generation tell a story in a keyboard solo like he did. Such a humble and good spirit. I remember when my daughter was born and I received a call while at the hospital. It was Shaun calling to congratulate me and we stayed on the phone for an hour as he espoused all the wisdom he knew. Just shows what type of man he is. I would get a random call from him out of the blue, from wherever he was in the world and he would always ask "how's baby girl doing". He stopped by my radio show about 9 years ago to celebrate the release of his solo album and he gave me this amazing interview. It really shows what type of incredible soul he had. Rest well my dear friend and I'm honored to be able to call you that. Listen to the interview here.
