Non-profit organizations abound, many with lofty missions started with passion and vigor. The realities of running a successful non-profit can make success difficult to achieve. To be successful, boards, volunteers, and clients have to be focused on a singular goal. Using a game platform, Glenda Hicks has developed an engaging way for non-profits to shore up the participation of their boards.

Hicks speaks about spending most of her career as a CPA who worked with non-profits, academia, and small businesses. She could see the challenges they faced concerning an engaged board.

Using a board game platform to train in a participatory way, Hicks broadly assists nonprofits. She speaks about the relationship between founders, boards, and staff. One important need is having the “right people in the right seats at the right time.”

Hicks describes her program as experiential learning that anyone in leadership can use. She speaks about nonprofit volunteers who often become board members who would also benefit from their training.
