Medicare

This week on WCLK's The Local Take(Saturdays 8am) I speak with April Washington, Public Affairs Officer for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We talk about the upcoming Open Enrollment period which runs from October 15 thru December 7.  She shares with us that everyone should review the new options especially the advantage plans. She mentions that there are over 127 plans and many at no additional cost.

Saturday morning at 8am on WCLK's The Local Take, in support of National Health Center Awareness Week, I speak with Tyrone Cox, General Manager of the Georgia Market for JenCare Senior Health Centers.  JenCare is a family-owned primary and specialty care practice for Medicare-eligible seniors.  Their centers provide a holistic integrative approach to medical care. 

Saturday morning on The Local Take on WCLK I spoke with Starr Slade from GeorgiaCares about Open Enrollment and what it means. The Open Enrollment period for Medicare begins on October 15th - December 7th. This is the time to make any adjustments to your insurance coverage base on changing health needs. 

Ms. Slade explains the ABC's of Medicare including the "Advantage" and "Drug" options. She goes on to share information about supplemental plans, Medicare Advantage and Medi-Gap coverage.

This week on The Local Take I speak with Dr. Renard Murray, the Consortium Administrator with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He shares that the open enrollment period is now until December 7th. 

He explains that everyone who uses Medicare should sit down with an advisor to go over any healthcare needs that have changed over the last 12 months. You can reach a customer service advisor by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. Additionally you can request the new Medicare book.
