The week on The Local Take, we acknowledge October as Anti-Bully Awareness Month with Ms. Georgia Junior Teen, 2020, Courtney Smith. Smith's platform is focused on creating a respectful environment in school. Even though students are in virtual school this year, she explains that bullying is still a challenge. She recently addressed the Atlanta Public School Board about the challenges that many students face. Smith shares that 1 in 5 students report being bullied in school. She emphasizes that when students or people see someone being bullied, they should say something. Occasionally if you acknowledge that someone's behavior is unkind, they may stop their actions. Courtney is a freshman at Maynard Jackson High School.
