The Historic Inaugural Jazz Music Awards is taking place on October 22nd at the Cobb Energy Center

I’m proud to announce that Jazz 91.9 WCLK, the Jazz station to the world, is hosting the inaugural Jazz Music Awards on October 22nd at the Cobb Energy Center. This historic event is in inline with our station’s many firsts. So it only makes sense that we launch and host the first-ever Jazz Music Awards. Our leader here at WCLK is Ms. Wendy Williams, and she is joining us today to talk about this historic event.

Williams speaks to other genres of music, having award shows, from country to gospel to hip-hop. And while Jazz musicians are honored to be awarded by other music organizations, we rarely see their performances.

The number of performances at this event is staggering, from Dee Dee Bridgewater to Kenny Garrett to Terri Lyne Carrington. Many performers are National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters. They are bringing their charisma and talent; you can also expect a few surprises.

Williams shares that on Friday, October 21st, there will be three Master Classes for students of all ages. There will be a Vocal Workshop with Ledesi and Jazzmeia Horn. Jamal Ahmad will lead a class on the future of Jazz, Stepping Into Tomorrow.

This is a not-to-be-miss inaugural weekend that is sure to be a sell-out.

For more information, go to Jazz Music Awards or visit WCLK.com.
